The Formula
How to Calculate Manually
- 1
Convert each grade to grade points (A=4.0, B=3.0, etc.).
- 2
Multiply grade points by credit hours for each course.
- 3
Add all quality points together.
- 4
Divide by total credit hours to get GPA.
Examples
A (4.0) in 3 credits + B (3.0) in 4 credits?
(12 + 12) ÷ 7 = 3.43 GPA
How to reach 3.5 cumulative from 3.25 with 60 credits done?
Use Target GPA mode: need ~3.75 in remaining 60 credits.
