How to Calculate Manually

  1. 1

Convert each grade to grade points (A=4.0, B=3.0, etc.).

  2. 2

Multiply grade points by credit hours for each course.

  3. 3

    Add all quality points together.

  4. 4

Divide by total credit hours to get GPA.

Examples

A (4.0) in 3 credits + B (3.0) in 4 credits?

(12 + 12) ÷ 7 = 3.43 GPA

How to reach 3.5 cumulative from 3.25 with 60 credits done?

Use Target GPA mode: need ~3.75 in remaining 60 credits.

💡 Tips

  • Weighted GPA gives +0.5 for Honors, +1.0 for AP/IB.
  • Semester GPA is per term; cumulative includes all coursework.
  • Retaking a failed course can replace or average—check your school policy.
